A pair of caned ‘Round’ chairs designed by Danish craftsman, Hans J. Wegner, for cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen in Denmark circa 1940’s. Internationally known as “The Chair,” Wegner’s design features a curved solid teak top rail with serrated joinery that bends forward to become the armrests. This was the first version of this chair that featured caning on the backrest with the intention of concealing the joinery. The woven-cane seat has been recently re-done true to the original specifications. This iconic chair was made for optimum comfort and exhibits both practicality and elegance.
