These iconic “Papa Bear” lounge chairs were designed by Hans J. Wegner for the famous Danish workshop of A.P. Stolen in 1951. Originally named the AP-19, this model acquired the name “Papa Bear” when a journalist claimed that the chair looked like a bear hugging the sitter from behind. Its features include tapered teak legs and padded arm rests or claws that serve to conceal the tenon and mortise joinery underneath.
