Jens H. Quistgaard "Stokke" Rosewood Lounge Chair for Nissen

Iconic "Stokke" chair designed by architect Jens H. Quistgaard in 1966 and produced by cabinet maker Nissen in Denmark. Inspired by the geometry of conical sticks; hence the name, Quistgaard designed this architectural chair constructed from Brazilian rosewood, chrome steel, and leather by connecting them without screws so that it can be disassembled completely. Today is known as one of Høvelskov's finest examples of his visually imposing design ideas, and his minimalistic approach to its fabrication gives it an element of functional beauty pertinent to the Danish Modern style. The tilting cognac leather backrest adapts to the sitter’s posture, making it very comfortable, and the rounded rosewood rod-style armrests make them a pleasure to the lay your armrest. Our skilled artisans have meticulously refinished this icon, and its cognac leather has been reupholstered for maximum functionality and durability. All while maintaining the core of Quistgaard's original design philosophy to make it the ideal focal point for any modern interior. It is signed with the maker's brand and Quistgaard's initials to the seat canvas.
